ABOUT
The Heartbreaker 50k is an extremely scenic tour of "the other Pisgah" in the shadow of Mountain Mitchell. Hitting multiple highlights, including; the infamous Kistuma Ridge Trail, breathtaking views from the summit of Blue Ridge Pinnacle, heartbreaking and quad-breaking climbs and descents along Heartbreak Ridge Trail, and enough runnable terrain to keep you honest.

Distance: ~ 33 Miles
Elevation Gain: ~ 7,500 feet
Time Limit: 12 hours
Miles of Single Track Trail: ~ 20 miles
Miles of Gravel: ~ 12 miles
Miles of Pavement: ~ 1 mile
Course Discription
The course has a bit of everything, from technical singletrack, grassy double track, and gravel. The race starts are Camp Grier and links into the new Copper Ridge Trail and follows to the first big climb of the day up Kistuma Ridge. After climbing Kitsuma, you decend down the gravel Mill Creek Road to start your next big climb of the day up Heartbreak Ridge Trail. Tag the summit of Blue Ridge Pinnacle and turn around to lose what you gained back to Jarrett Creek Road and run this winding, scenic stretch of gravel back down to Camp Grier.
Aid Stations
Aid 1: 7.25 mile -
Aid 2: 11.7 mile* - cutoff: 10:15am
Aid 3: 19.1 mile# - cutoff: 2:30pm
Aid 4: 26.1 mile - cutoff: 5:00pm
Aid stations will have at a minimum: Water and Gatorade. Minimum foods include: bananas, orange slices, potato chips, pretzels, PB&J, and M&Ms.

Extra Information
Packet Pick Up
Pre-Packet pickup will be held at Camp Grier from 5-8pm on May 25th under the pavilion.
Please pick up your packet early, however, we will have race day pickup from 6:00-6:50am race morning.
Need to Know
-Weather conditions can change drastically on the mountain. If race needs to be canceled due to extreme weather, the race will try to be rescheduled or run virtually. No refunds will be given if you cannot attend the rescheduled date or if rescheduling is not an option.
-You must carry required gear. This includes a rain shell, at least a 20oz water carrying device, a whistle, cell phone, and an emergency blanket.
-There are multiple lodging options at Camp Grier from private cabins, dorm style cabins, and camping. You can book lodging through Camp Grier at campgrier.org

Stay on marked trails, DO NOT CUT SWITCHBACKS!
Must carry required gear at all times.
Use proper trail etiquette when passing other runners
Be courteous to other trails users
No littering
Obey any race official's request
No pacers
